The next Army rifle?

Interesting to see how the testing goes, the article states 4 barrels, its 5 in one block of steel. Hard to imagine based on how it works. I'm really curious as to how the propellant is applied to the projectile and about the material the individual chamber blocks are made of.

Seems to look like a throw back to revolver technology. I wonder about dirt getting into the required tolerances of the block on the battlefield.

I like reading through popular science and mechanics but unfortunately it is filled with the sci-fi things that never really come true. More wacky stuff to ponder.

Anyone remember the Ripsaw tank? Look how far that went... or didn't.

What they are not showing you is the power supply for the rifle. If it is truly electromagnetic driven, there will need to be a backpack power supply to go with it.

Even by Daisy, with their VL rifle back in the 60s. It used the heat of air being compressed by a spring driven piston to ignite the propellant.

I shot one of these, twice. Seems just like a normal 22, except quieter, and more recoil/jump from the spring and piston.

I understood it to be an off shoot of the caseless ammo research for the military.

Uh. Point of order.
The M1 Garand was 30-06.
The M14 was 7.62 x 51 or.... very close to .308.
