New Tractor chains dont fit

Just bought a new set of durogrip tire chains for my john deere. They are for my 17.5Lx24 and when i put them on it can get barely buckle the cam latch but inside is about 14" to short. If i measure along the tread between the 2 ends of the cross chains ends is about 2.5 apart from touching.

Due to low production volume, tractor tire chains are made to fit multiple tire sizes. It is routine that one must custom fit a new set to one's tires.

That said, usually the chains are too long and must be cut down. Since yours appear to be too short, you may wish to contact your vendor for assistance.

Just fitted a F & R sets for my newest Kubota about two weeks ago. I needed to remove 3 cross links from each of the rears and cut about a foot from the side chains. Also needed to remove 3 or 4 links from the front side chains and add 2 cross links to each front. Contacted vendor and they sent me the 4 needed cross chains without charge.

Very common.

Add a few link on each side. Go to a hardware store where they can cut chain to length, have them cut like two 12? pieces, and then get two
quick links and fasten the 12? piece to the chains on each side. Should work just fine.

A tire chain tool makes adding and removing the cross link hooks easy. As said by others just add to the side links and add what you need for crosslinks. I added cross links on every other side link and had to lengthen the sides as well. The Town throws away there chains when the cross links wear to much for them so I grabbed them and made 2 pair out of 5 or 6 sets some were even dual chains so I separated them and used the best cross links I could find, they work great for me.

Brand new, or new to you? Might be hard to find used chains for industrial tires. If used, I agree with everyone else, just add more links. If brand new, I'd contact the company.

These are brand new chains.

If you need more cross chains, you can buy them from tirechains.com if your vendor cannot/will not help you. They are inexpensive.

I would bet that you got the wrong chains shipped to you. Call your vendor and verify what you have and what you should have got. Could be mismarked.
