JD 3038 tractor emissions

Hi all, I have a John Deere 3038 Compact Diesel tractor. It has the tier IV exhaust system that will burn off the soot when it builds up. Anyway the system activates and goes thru the burn off mode, but the soot level stays the same. So some thing is not right as the convertor should be smoking hot and burn off the soot. Any one know any thing about this and could help to check this out? If I can't figure how to fix it I'll take it to the dealer. Thanks Ron MN

You probably have a software (ECM) glitch not sending fuel to the particulate filter, not creating a heat build up.
