Smell like a rat? A very BIG rat?

Sure looks like a scam! The ones that I see in MN usually have 1 picture of a nearly new JD compact utility, and say the gauges all work or something else odd, have a ridiculous low price, and want you to respond to a gmail address. I flag them as soon as I see them, the gullible people are already poor, don't need to be scammed!

Here in central Iowa, there is a 1206 IH advertised for $3500. No phone number just an email to respond. I almost sent him an email saying if your going to scam someone at least use a realistic price. The pic was a very nice looking tractor.

GREED is what gets you in trouble. You see this smoking deal and GREED overrides your common sense, "I can buy that tractor and sell it for 5 times what I paid!" No, you can't. There is no tractor.

On Craigslist, if it looks too good to be true, it's not "probably" too good to be true. It *DEFINITELY* without a doutbt *IS* too good to be true. There is no sense in even risking it. Stomp your greed back into the dark place it crawled out of, flag the ad, and move on.

When I was a 20something, one of my acquaintances was handing out little white plastic discs, looked like poker chips with the KFC logo on them.

Said they made them at the chicken place by throwing drink lids in the deep fryer! LOL

Evidently a lot of people fall for these scams because they have been going on a long time. I flag dozens of ads like this every day on CL when I see them, hoping more people will do it also. I'm not sure if they are fishing for email addresses or what, but I always use my Gmail addy on CL, seems to be a safer way to go as I do not get spam on Gmail.

I see ads like that all the time on my local Craigslist. A nice tractor advertised for pennies on a dollar for what they are worth. They always just have a e-mail address to respond to also.

Of course there can be exceptions to the rule...I found this tractor on CL a couple years ago, had been reposted after being flagged. The price seemed low to me, but later found out it was an estate tractor and the greedy daughters just wanted their money. I used it for two months and sold it for $7k more than I paid for it.

I wonder if it is the same one that has been on Vermont Craigslist for the past two weeks?

There is also a good looking JD 3010 for $1200.

Wife and her friend looking for a horse trailer for the friend- they were all excited about one on craigslist- "That's an $8,000 horse trailer, and we can get it for $3,000!" "Seems like a lot", I said. "Whattya mean, a lot? Its a steal!" "No, its a lot for a picture of a horse trailer, because that's all they've got. You can't go see it, right? but they'll ship it out and if you don't like it they'll refund your money, right? think, ladies- wouldn't it be a lot easier for them to park it out by the road, put a "best offer" sign on it, and sell it for 5 grand without lifting a finger?"
