RANT POOR OR INCOMPLETE ADS

Guys don't want to stir up a mess like bezerks post on the 9n pump. BUT looking at stuff this morning, why cant people take the time to write an ad description properly??? Evil bay, crag list, and other venues. Just seems like a lot of stupid stuff lately. 1. guy went to look at a truck when he got there the guy was selling it with no tires/rims add did not say that. 2. you have to lock the seller down and do an fbi interrogation to get any answers, like the one where the engine was locked up!!! OF COURSE THE SELLER KNEW IT. NEW ITEMS they have ads from some other company (coupon to burger thing) ratings from angies list etc. but say nothing about the product and 2 pages of payment information on credit cards!!! I just don't get it

I've been buying and selling different things for over 50 years what you describe is just part of the normal deal. Some of my best bargain buys came from ads that were poorly written or a poor description. One that comes to mind was an ad that read "Old John Deere lawnmower, don't run,$100" ad was posted in the Winter time.Went to look turned out to be a really super nice JD
318 with mower deck,3pt and a couple more Brinly attachments.Battery was dead. Gotta roll with the flow.

My issue is with the CL sellers who do not put a price or location of the item .There is a space on the ad where they could include the price and location. Plus a lot of ads do not include Photos.

I run into them all the time where the spelling and punctuation are so bad you can't be sure what exactly is for sale. Just yesterday saw an ad that looks like they are selling a tractor, but on further review they are selling some parts to fit a tractor.

I've noticed a lot of tractor show adds say the street address but not the town and if they do say the town not what state is in.

A large percentage of the people in this country (and all other countries for that matter) are stupid and/or crooked. It's best to assume both when dealing in online sales sites.

I look at Craig's List ads as if they are garage sales. Sometime people just want to cheaply dispose of an item they don't know much about and they don't want to put a lot of time to selling the item. When those are close by, some times those can be the best bargains.

When I write ads, I add more detail in proportion to the asking price and how badly I want to sell the item. That does not always work though.

Another way to look at ads is they are only intended to spike your interest, to get potential buyers to text, call or take a look, not to close the deal, IE: new car sales brochures.

Been looking for a used cap for the back of my truck.
Have to wade though a hundred ads that say "Truck Cap", no mention of dimension or what truck it was on previously. Was looking for a set of rims for the wifes winter tires. Most ads just say "Rim".
Then of course you have the ads where there is an Allis Chalmers {with good decals) fully visible but they are selling an Alice Chambers.

On Craigslist last evening, I saw an ad for a pickup. There were copious pictures, and in the picture of the inside of the cab there was no front seat. What the heck?

Didn't say a word about it in the text.

Tom ..... there are about 8 billion people on the planet, if "most of them" are stupid or crooked, I'm not going away from the house today !!! What percent would you guess that would be?

Than there are these.

I see adds listing stuff for sale in ohio and I see palm trees or mountains in the background.

Copious ..... somehow I thought that meant suspicious. I did a Google search and it means lots or many. Learn something every day on YT. Back when you were a kid and your dad asked you how many times the teacher kept you in for detention, I suspect you said "copious" times .... LOL.

I've followed a 12-volt car battery on C-List for several days. Original post plus two reposts. Listing says "phone calls only." But no number is listed! C-List sent seller multiple notes saying no contact info listed, but still no number. Hard to sell stuff that way.

An incomplete add for say a truck without engine size or if auto or stick and 2 wheel or 4 wheel will just get a glance over and no call because the looker thinks the poster is to stupid to understand there are options that a potential buyer needs and that buyer will think if he is that stupid has he even been able to have the maintainance done so it is probably a piece of junk as well as not equiped as I need so I am not going to wast my time trying to call or email. There was a mower I was interested in but pictures did not show detail I needed. I emailed him saying I cannot hear over the phone to do bussiness so I need a reply by email. I just got back no information only a email saying call me when he knew from my email I could not hear to do that. People that I normally are in contact with over the phone and it is a captioning phone for hard of hearing that supposedly prints out for me to read makes so many mistakes if the person on the other end does not talk loud enough or plain enough it if it can pick anything up makes so many mistakes it is just jibberish that the ones I normally want to talk with know how to talk so I can know what they are saying. The add should be enough to get your attention but also enough information to make you want to contact the seller instead of just going on to a different add because you figure if porly worded it is not going to be what you want. If you are too dumb to say call when you are told the interested person cannot use the phone says you are not interested in selling the item.

On Dallas Clist ads, upper left corner is a "contact seller" actitvation of which gives the phone number and email address or other options all sanitized by Cl. On verbiage and number of pictures posted, sorta defines the seller and real intentions, for me anyway. Only had a couple of Clist purchases and both pleasant. My purchase of an '88 Ford 3910 Series II with 900 hrs was an outstanding deal. Still can't believe it happened.

You think you can change people just by explaining things to them. That's so cute.

It's not worth the time or effort. Let them wallow in their own ignorance, wondering why their ad keeps getting flagged off, or why their thing doesn't sell.

I'm amused with the ones that say something along the lines of "cheap and easy fix", or "Slightly scratched, it'll easily buff out". I always think why don't you fix it yourself and it'll be perfect? TDF

My pet peeve is getting the sellers entire life story, his aunt's life story including her lumbago, the life story of his older brother's bout with degenerative nerve disease, and while we're talking, how the state is running everyone's life into the ground. "But excuse me sir, I was asking you about the 1957 Farmall you have for sale, and if it runs when I get there?"

"Whelp, back in 57 when that tractor came out of the factory..."

Oh - my - gosh...
