....that goes to my computer? Found it cleaning the office. No idea where it came from or what it is?

It looks to be a CAT5 ethernet cable. it can connect a computer to a Modem directly without WIFI, or an Ethernet capable device to a modem. I have one in my hand right now, 8 conductors. Jim Jim

CAT 5 cable, for wired internet.
 
I know the feeling...I do it all the time. I'm still puzzled why/how I have this cable. Either something to do with my wifi or the new Dish system because it just appeared on the desk.
 
Looks to be a sheilded network cable. The ends are wrapped with sheet metal and should be sheilded cable with the outher sheath of the cable hooked to the sheilds of the connector. It will carry a ground then from device to device. Really useful for outdoor applications (lightning) or indoor for high data rates or noisy environments to keep the bits flowing where they need to be without interference.
