Went to a concert back in Fall of 2002 in a small arena west of O?Hare airport. Alan Jackson was the headliner with Trace Adkins opening. Jackson thanked everyone for coming out in light of the economic downturn after 9/11. I think the tickets were about $35.00 or something close to that, Don?t think we?ll find a deal like that again!

As for going to a large venue and seeing a main stream "artist", no I don't do that anymore. The cost is prohibitive.

Now I will go to see local talent, preferably outdoors or a "house concert", a small venue or even someones house where the seating is very limited and people actually come to hear the music. Some of the best performances I have ever been to were in a repurposed 100 year old movie theater. Up close and personal!

I don't care for large venues, especially the bar scene where you pay to hear the music but instead get to hear Bubba and his buddies whooping it up at the table beside me! Those typically start too late anyway, they want to all the booze money they can up front.

I truly believe living in Texas has a big advantage on the music scene. I can find about anything I care to hear without having to go mainstream. No crowds, reasonable cost, support the locals, and by far the best entertainment anywhere!

Yep,all the time. Saw Marty Haggard at a small theater in Sherman Tx just last week. Learned more about Merle that night than I did while he was living.

Our favorite concert venue is the Ark in Ann Arbor, MI. It only seats 400 people, but some pretty big names play there. Musicians who play there regularly include Judy Collins, Junior Brown, Marcia Ball and pretty much every folk singer who can still pick a guitar. Artists we've seen there include Nanci Griffith, Al Stewart, John McCutcheon and Garnet Rogers.

Detroit has a number of good concert venues. We've seen some good shows at the Fox Theater, a beautiful 1920s movie theater. There's also Chene Park, an amphitheater right on the Detroit River that has jazz concerts all summer long. We've also gone to some shows at Pine Knob (now called DTE Music Theater) and Meadowbrook, both of which are outdoor theaters not too far from us.
