I am looking at purchasing a 2005 John Deere 5525. It has around 2000 hours on it. Is there anything I need to consider? I have looked at some reviews and some say they are great and some say they have had troubles. This a MFWD with a cab. Thanks in advance for your help

About the only thing I know is what my cousin has said about the one he bought new. He had to have the dash replaced at quite an expense because it went metric and they couldn't get it to reset, and that there was a bad rattle in the differential lock pedal. The dealer mechanic told him there was nothing that could be done about the rattle. He said it was so annoying,he tied it up with a piece of baler twine so he didn't have to listen to it. I'm sure the dash was from an outside vendor and you can get a bad one now and then without a doubt, but it did happen and it wasn't cheap.

I owned this one for 2 months. The only quirk it had was the 3pt would not lift after startup with the slide lever, had to hit the button that raised it all the way up first. It also had a small oil leak at the front of the motor, but not too bad. I liked the economy pto for what I did, but the tractor did not fit my needs and was too expensive for what I do, so I sold it. Made a nice profit, tho :D
