Hello all,
I'm Tim from the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. I've got two old tractors, one 1950-something 8N and also what I think is a 1966 Case 310G diesel crawler. Both were inherited from my father. The crawler runs but needs restoration, the 8N won't run at all but I hope to restore that over time as well.
With that in mind I'll try to share what I learn as I go along and I welcome any ideas or suggestions you guys might have to make things go easier.

Welcome.

Cherish that little crawler. If you've got any acreage and you want to do things with the land, it's impossible to get someone to come in with a dozer to do little jobs. Many will tell you- you can't afford to own/run/maintain a crawler tractor. I don't find it to be much different than any other piece of equipment.

There's at least a couple of guys on the Case forum who can tell you about every nut and bolt in that thing.

Also when you find those guys one of the very FIRST things you want to do is have them tell you how to lube the rollers. Different grease types and some take a very heavy oil. Please save your rollers! Most anything else is mostly common sense.

Those rollers and front idlers have regular grease zerks and any good grease is acceptable. The winch is a bit more temperamental on oil to run it. I don't have a manual at my fingertips to tell you what to use for oil there, so join us on the Case forum, or the Crawler/loader forum. Lots of Case guys on both forums.

Welcome.
There is a lot of knowledge to be had on these forums.
Go to the "N" forum and look for Bruce Va.
He has a list of 75 things about N series tractors.
Almost every thing you need to know is covered.
Good luck with your tractors.
