1959 65 Massey Ferguson Wide Front End Tractor Value?

My parent's estate has a 1959 Massey Ferguson 65 tractor for sale. It has not run in 30 plus years. It is in need of a motor overhaul, brakes, etc. The metal is in good shape, but needs tires and a new seat. Any idea what it's worth?

Depends on several other things. Gas engine or diesel engine? 28"or 38" rear wheels? Will the engine turn over or is it stuck? But probably not much different than parts price on what a parts man will offer. They should give a bit more than a scrap man that will just send it over seas. And that weight for that will depend on things like sixe of wheels as the larger wheel will weigh more. A diesel will weigh more to than a gas but cost way more to repair. So many variabes we don't know. Even like where tractor is located. Small farm country more apt for a small farmer to repair it than in mega farm grain country. How bad are the wheels with rust and are they the power adjust wheels. Power adjust almost impossible to find if needing repair. Then why was it parked in first place. running at that time or not?

Sitting that long and the list of
what it needs,I would say
scrap/salvage value,maybe 350-400

Dad parked it because it needed overhauled and he was retiring from farming. It's a lower profile, gas 65 with smaller rear wheels.
I would sort of like to purchase it from the estate and have it restored, as this is the tractor I learned to drive on. It has some rust on the wheels even thought it has been parked under cover.

Under $500 down to less than $100 maybe as scrap guys are rarely at sales I go to any more. It'd be considered a parts tractor at best. For reference I sold a MF 65 couple years ago ran good
looked pretty good needed a rim rim and tire got $900.

Then it has semintal value to you so that makes the situation entirely different than if you were going to try to advertise and sell it. As long as the wheels are not rusted out with holes in them they should clean up fine. Now if they were rusted out from fluid setting and leaking for years then finding good wheels would be a big job and cost way more to get going. Being a gasit will cost way less also to repair than a diesel would. So figure out what the estate needs and get it.

I agree with the others- $300-500 as a parts tractor. That tractor in running condition with average rubber would be in the $1,500 range, and it will cost nearly that much to replace the tires, not to mention engine rebuild and brakes. Would be nice to save it, since it has sentimental value to you.

Janet, I agree with Leroy and the rims can be repaired at home fairly cheaply if you or someone you know has a shop and can weld. Hit tire piles at tire stores in your area. With patience you can "re-shoe" it reasonably with discarded but still serviceable skins. I generally base what I do with a restoration on what I plan to use it for. gm

Most likely rake hay with it or brush hog with it. My husband has the skills and equipment to repair the wheels and could do the motor overhaul.

All about location, I sold one in worse condition for $500, it needed everything including a piston and sleeve. If
you had a running MF65 but needing all the things you stated it would bring around $1800 in this area.
