How safe is your pole barn?

I may not be the sharpest bulb on the tree, but I have better sense than to put any suggestions I may have on stopping this crap on the innerwebz!

Darn tootin right!
By golly the thieves just might show up with one of those fuse pullers and yank the fuse open way up on top of the power pole before entering your property.
Then all of your secret anti theft prep was for nuttin.

I did the same, driveway motion sensor in barn. I installed a 9v NiMh battery and a charger for power outage. My power is underground. It comes from house. I have no windows in door or barn. I also have a fake motion sensor above door. My doors face the house. Security light too.

Knock on wood, no break ins.

My alarm has battery back up. My power comes from house, underground. So go ahead and try to cut my
power.

Seams to mirror the problems that one of the members on here is experiencing on his farm.
Sad to seen city/urban crime branching out into rural areas.
LET'S Legalize all drugs, and make it illegal to lock our doors or use traditional force to stop the perpetrators!!! Just let them walk in and steal what they want to support their habit.
Heaven forbid that an entitled person get's shot stealing.

That's about the size of it. A person defends their possessions/ property that he/she busted their butt for and now they're the bad guy. And yet we think surrendering one more freedom will some how make us safe.

The fuse on the pole will cut power to everything on your property.
Unless there is power coming from more than one transformer.
Battery backup will help, [i:aefdcd6f70]if[/i:aefdcd6f70] it is still good when it is needed.
A whole house generator would be good as well. If it starts when actually needed.

If my barn was that far away i would have me one or 2 mean A$$ Dogs in there. It would stop that right quick. You would find out who did it when they showed up at the hospital with half there A$$ missing . I hate a thief

My farm is now in the middle of suburbia I had some things stolen a few years ago.Cops caught them.Guess what? They were from the rural part of the next county country people that had been here forever.Have never had my urban type neighbors ever bother anything.

It appears that they left OK, no mentioned of blood, so it appears that they did not get hurt so the barn must be safe.

Break ins around here are usually local idiots. Urban idiots don?t want to travel this far to steal our junk. I?m not sure there is a better class of idiots.

I have 3 cameras on mine. Alarm system that is connected to my phone. Good security lighting and can see my shop from my recliner and also monitor with a 32 inch TV 6 ft from my recliner. I also have a 150 watt LED light that is going up to replace a 400 watt medal halide.

Generator is bolted down and adjacent to the house. Gun safe, also bolted down, is inside wall adjacent to generator. Security cameras will catch most prowlers.

All that said, I well recognize that there are far too many scum buckets out there and thievery, among other things, is a real problem.

Got a gaggle of geese that wander the farm. Got a dog that is none too amenable to strangers and sounds off when the guy across the road pulls in his driveway. Got a shotgun within easy reach of going to the door, concealed carry for 'varmints' when out afield, and there is NEVER no one home.

Not saying where the game cameras are either.

We have had only one robbery in the 25 years we've lived here. And that was by someone who knew us who swiped a bunch of stuff from the unlocked garage while nobody was home.

I think people looking to burglarize a shop check out our place and decide it's too risky. There's only one way in or out, and it's easy to block the driveway. Someone breaking into my shop (which is seldom locked) are likely to be seen by neighbors on either side.

It's my opinion that thieves look for places where they think they won't be seen but where they can see anyone approaching. And there's a good chance they know the victim, or at least know there's something worth stealing.
