Super c fails to start

Hi guys have early 50s super c with the battery ignition unit will crank over will not start . But if you move the button for the ignition kill it try's to start but if you push the button all the way it it trys to crank the engine over with the starter have replaced the switch and cleaned the block surface were the starter mounts cleaned the cables i believe the starter is ok but might be dragging any help would be helpful

Sounds like improper wiring. Look for yours here

On rare occasions, the battery has enough power for the starter, but not enough left over for the ignition system. I have had a tractor start after I released the key from the start position and then the ignition system got enough current to do its job. Put a charger on it or jump it with another good battery. If that doesn't change anything, then look for other problems.

Hay guys forget to add this is 12 volt system and electronic ignition system has not not been run in almost a year

I have had this happen on 12 vdc systems too. The 6 volt starter is happy to spin the motor, but the 12 volt electronic ignition needs at least 9 volts to work.
