Planter is ready for planting

Finally got my planter done! Had to fix one fertilizer opener because the casting was broken. I just cut off all the broken cast and welded on a piece of paper and.

Then I had to figure out the gearing. That took some serious thought since I didn't have all the proper gears that came with the planter and I changed the drive gears to get the planting rate I wanted. I think I've got it close now as long as these augers feed at the same rate the case ones did.

Then all that was left was the markers. This discs we're like the rear wheels, cast hubs on steel pins and they were worn out. So this time I just decided to change them out with some new old stock blades I found and the salvage yard.

Once that was done I took it outside for some pics

Even hooked it to the 400 which I'll use to plant with, if the snow ever melts.

Guess I'll have to find another project now. Lol. I do have a few things left to get ready yet, so I'll be busy.

I don't think anyone is surprised that the tire on the JD rim is flat tho.

The one on the case rim holds air just fine. Could just be a coincidence I guess.

I wouldn?t want to be on a case either 😂😂 Poor tire doesn?t have much left to live for carrying on the name of Italian company

Looks great. There is a lot of work in bring something like that back to work again and a lot of satisfaction in doing it as well. Get the bugs out this year and get some new Case orange paint on it for next year. Tom

Yup, you amaze me with your ingenuity. Did you drop it to the snow/ground and see if it planted?

Nice Job!

Paul

I'm just glad Deere still owns it, I'll just take it back and tell them you own it you fix it.

I saw that and wondered what you were meaning, what was it supposed to say? My misteaks are mostly from hitting wrong key but then I am not a good speller. And auto correct is always turned off as it was saying I could not spell my own name or address. How does it feel not being on the road anymore, miss it? Already over 4 1/2 years since I saw you. Was an enjoyable time.
