Field cultivator sweep replacement?

I have a Landoll 875 soil finisher and just bought new sweeps from Shoup. The old sweeps had no lock washers under the nuts but had a nut with a flange. Should I use lock washers when going back together? I know that plows do not use any washers on the shears. What is your opinion? Thanks Tom

Flange nuts work really good then you don?t need washers and the nuts are serrated so they work like a lock washer

Several years ago we switched everything over to the John Deere Spring Clip system which made changing teeth so much easier and faster. If you are not familiar with these look into them and save yourself a lot of aggravation. They use a special tool to hold the clip down and one swing of a hammer takes them off and the new one slips on and automatically locks. You will never have to monkey doodle around with another bolt once the shank is converted

Go to the knock on sweeps and forget about bolting. I converted mine over 30 years ago. Put the shank wear strips on when you do.
