Honda big red

I've got one of the old 3 wheeler big reds that needs a piston and rings (long story, don't ask...lol) anyone know if the engine can be redone in place or does it need to be pulled out of the frame?
Thanks for your help

It could probably be done inframe, but easier to just pull the motor. especially if you have to remove and bore the jug.

I have two 250 Big reds, I need rear axle and hub. There are none available. One has the left hug welded to the axel. I found a used axel in Little rock Arkansas, but no hubs, My YT user name followed by Hughes.net

There is a 250 big red on fb marketplace in Savannah Missouri. Not sure if you are able to get to that one.

I've done my polaris in frame 3 times (bored 10, 20 and 30 over) with no problem. If you are working on the connecting rod or crank, it will probably have to be pulled.

I've got an '84 and an '85. Been parked for 20 years, always think I'll get to them. I had to replace the hub on the '85 too, it was something like $175 for a new one back in the '90s.

'84 had electrical issues. I checked through it for hours, gave up, hauled it to "the guy", he worked on it for a few days. Got a call, he had it done. He said he had many, many hours finding the thing, but only billed me for a few. It worked a couple months, drove it in the yard, shut it off, then it wouldn't start again, just no spark. I was done at that point, had enough in it, even if it was a simple issue (needed new tires at the time anyway).

'85 was running ok when I parked it. It had bad/gone plastic/fenders when it was purchased, and the motor had been gone through at least once, I think bored. It was my favorite with the gearing, etc. Front axle bearing went out. As with many projects, because I have many, I left it go after I couldn't get the brake apart or whatever needed to get the axle out (after about 30 minutes). I moved it to slow use duty, briefly, until it wore through the axle (yes, knew it would happen, of course).

Always liked three wheelers, '85 was better riding, bumps with the front wheel ..."hurt"..., sometimes. Never tipped them over. Also, almost never had working brakes. More than a decade of service out of used atvs, didn't think it was too bad. Looking at UTVs now.
