tubes or no tubes

Changing out my front tires on my Ford 3000, currently have
16" tri rib tires with tubes, putting on a pair of 16" truck tires
that are rated tubeless. My question do I need to run tubes
with my tractor rims? thanks in advance, Dave

Probably, but who knows.

I installed new tubeless rear tires on the standard 6 loop (rear) rims on my 51 8N in 1995. No problems.

Just air, of course.

Are the centers rivited in or are they welded? A lot of times the riviots would leak air. Then are the rims good enough for the bead to seal?

not all rims will seal at the bead
take your index finger and set it in the area that a hammered on wheel weight would sit

if that area feels cupped you are ok with tubless tires
if it is a flat surface it needs tubes because without them it will rimleak forever

Tubes never hurt. Right now I am in the process of tubing up three of my gaden tractors. The tires slowly leak down and it is tube time. At $16.oo each it can add up. Get yourself a tire valve fish. Makes geting that tube in so much easier. Also don't foget a little puff of baby powder. A puff in the tire and a little rubbed on the tube. Things go right together.

Tube type rims are different then tubeless rims so one can not run a tubeless tire on a tube type rim and have them hold air. Very good chance the rims you have are made to be run with tubes
