Why is there so much difference in the prices of identical 11.2-28 tires?

What does the designation K9 mean?

What is the best brand for the money? Carlisle keeps popping up

K9 is apparently some sort of brand name.

Are you finding this big variation in price between local dealers, or on the 'net?

If on the 'net, obviously shipping may be a big deal, not to mention a local place to mount them and fix a flat, if ever needed.

Unless you are st up to do that sort of stuff yourself!

I got some Carlisle tires on my little NH 1720, they have been very good for 2 years now.

Isn't 11.2-28 in the irrigation tire range? Irrigation tires run cheaper because the lugs are spaced further apart. Not ment for tractors but a lot of people use them.

Advertising for brand name. If a company does a lot of advertising they are going to have to pay for that advertising where a company that does not advertise does not have that expence.

I just bought a set of Carlisle R1 8-16 for a sub compact and they are of excellent quality and priced right, with free shipping. Surface is nice and slick indicating the presence of adequate plasticizers which will go a long way in reducing cracking that is usually a problem of farm tires.

Kelly-Springfield is another winner. I have a couple of Fords with 13.6x 28 R1s I bought for both of them so long ago I forget when. Lugs are still like new and no cracking on either tractor....but I keep them out of direct sunlight, under a car port type cover.

I have not heard of a Kelly-Springfield name on a tire for 50 years. When it was just Kelly it was a good tire.
