1/2"-13 lug nuts?

Working on a utility trailer, and some of the lug studs have been replaced with 1/2"-13 thread. Whoever did it was using regular nuts with lock washers on the wheels.

Does anyone know where I can find proper tapered lug nuts in coarse thread?

Not sure you can. I've never seen them though that doesn't mean they don't exist. It may be cheaper to replace the studs.

You can get them at your local DEERE dealer's parts department.

Part number is JD25, some $2 each. Dealer I am set up with on jdparts shows 10 in stock, have to be ORDERED in bags of 5, if none in stock at local dealer.

How difficult would it be to replace the studs? I'd be concerned about losing a wheel with coarse thread lugs. And you'd eliminate the chance of somebody cross-threading the studs because they didn't realize they were a mix of coarse and fine thread.

Excellent point.

If this were a road going trailer I might be inclined to replace the studs and may do so eventually, but for now I just wanted to get the proper tapered lug nuts so as to not bugger up the new rims.

Only solution I can think of would be to take a set of 7/16" lug nuts, drill them out and tap to 1/2-13. The hex would be 3/4 instead of 13/16, but that's not a big deal.

I had the same problem once with some piece of equipment. never could find coarse lug nuts. I did find some heavy all steel locknuts with a cone shape head. I ran a tap through them to remove the lock and used them upside down so to speak. Never had any trouble with them.

tim boltcas, is my post invisible to you, or do you just dislike me that much that you can't accept what I posted?

I posted a functioning DEERE part number for EXACTLY what the O.P. needs that is available at a reasonable price, NO mods needed, and you contribute "Only solution I can think of would be to take a set of 7/16" lug nuts, drill them out and tap to 1/2-13"?

WHAT the heck???

That's the solution you thought of. I didn't think of that, you did. I was only trying to help. Congratulations. You win the internet on June 21, 2019.

Bob,
I am going to guess that you view these forums in modern view.
Which is like a story with consecutive posts and a sort of ongoing storyline conversation. Where other modern view users can read all of the posts made in a thread.

But if you look at classic view, which many still do, they might click the original post and then post a reply. Not ever opening the other replys. That is why you will see the same exact answers repeated dozens of times because many repliers never looked at any replys from others.
