Speaking of injectors

I pulled the head off a 3 cylinder Ford engine the other day and set it on a steel bench. I didnt set the head down real hard but it is heavy and I might have clunked it a little.
Noticed that it didn't sit flat on the bench. It rocked a little.
Then I remembered the tips of the injectors protrude about 1/8" and it was sitting on them. I picked it back up and put wood blocks under it.
Did I damage the injectors?
I'm hoping to reuse them.

need to remove them and get them checked. not sure on the type, but if like a pencil injector not good.

Any DIRECT injected head SHOULD have the injectors pulled as the tips stick below the head surface. You may or may not have ruined the tips, only way to know is to have the injectors checked.

Hello Ultradog,

Not really a good thing to do. I would take them off and take a good look at the tips with a magnifying glass. Changes are they are just fine, unless you REALLY slammed the head down hard. Ofcaurse if they have many hours on them, you should just get them redone, That's my call!

East Central Diesel in Grandy, just north of Cambridge is where I get mine done. Good folks there.

I agree with you, unless the O.P. REALLY smacked them, most likely they weren't hurt.

On the other hand, even without the potential that they were damaged, I'd "pop test" 'em, and check spray pattern and crack pressure before reusing them.
