what does TOE or OBO, mean in Canadian talk.. i have a friend he is a Allis_Chalmers collector,it's not for me! The OBO,is best offer, it's in the picture tractor, listing. It's the D-17 Allis tractor.

Well in ads where you are selling something, it means OR BEST OFFER ...... so maybe something like .... Tractor is in good shape, asking $2800 obo. The TOE acronym, never heard of that but if you open the link below, you have lots of choices. Does the TOE you are referring to have anything to do with a financial transaction like selling or buying?

Here's your choices for TOE below ....

Bob, I finally figured out what you meant with your TOE reply. It's the first half of a person's postal code. Up here it goes letter, number, letter, number, letter, number. Like T8H2T1 and so on. Starting with "T" tells me it is an Alberta address.

Bob, you were right for both parts .... here is the person's postal code .....

Blue Ridge, AB T0E 0B0
Canada

So T zero E zero B zero ....

Mine is R0K 0P0

So when you need to enter a zip code into the pay at the pump keyboard, Canadians enter the numbers of the postal code followed by a couple of zeros to make up five numbers.

Blue Ridge AB, Santa and me enter 00000 which usually confuses the heck out of the pump computer.

Address here in Canada have a POSTAL CODE.....in the USA these codes are called Zip Codes:

A Canadian postal code is a six-character string that forms part of a postal address in Canada. Like British, Irish and Dutch postcodes, Canada's postal codes are alphanumeric. They are in the format A1A 1A1, where A is a letter and 1 is a digit, with a space separating the third and fourth characters. As of September 2014, there were 855,815 postal codes using Forward Sortation Areas from A0A in Newfoundland to Y1A in the Yukon. Canada Post provides a free postal code look-up tool on its website

Bob....

Speaking of which ....can any one tell me why US service stations require zip codes? Most do but some do not. No one in the was ever able to tell me.

Supposed to make it harder for people to steal credit cards if the zip code doesn?t match up it won?t go through

I didn't know about this so looked it up. Apparently, it's used as fraud detection. Compare what is entered against what is on the account. Simple, but it would be quite effective. I assume it could also be used for analytics to some extent.
