Electrical Plastic Connectors for Custom Harness - Source?

Looking for a source and the correct name for the little plastic electrical connectors like used on wire harnesses it makes a cleaner and more reliable product. I also want to replace some old ones on some tractors as well as make a few custom connections on some add-ons that will look "factory". Where do I source them in bulk, what do you search to find them, and I realize there are many shapes and sizes depending on application.

If you can find a retailer of K&L motorcycle products they offer a really nice easy to use single crimp setup, not as fancy as the automotive "weatherhead" fittings but I love them. Try searching for "super crimper"

Something like the plastic connectors in the picture. I feel like these are a standard electrical item but I don t know how to locate them. I d like to find a place that sells just the plastic connectors and accompanying wire terminals so I can buy various styles I think I would need. They can t cost very much. Would be nice to have like 20 of each on hand.

You might check with Mr. Guarino at wiringharnesses.com, and see if he would supply you with what you want. I saw he was at the recent Two Cylinder Expo in Canandaigua NY.

Do a search on Packard Series 56 connectors. I believe that is what you are looking for.
I recently got a custom wiring harness for my 4020 from Jim Guarino at Agri-services, and that is what they used. And by the way, their product and service was excellent.

Terminal supply company in Troy Michigan. They have an online catalog and other branches around the Midwest. Those plastic housings and terminals are not really as cheap as we would like but it really depends
on the type and size.

Any auto parts store even Wallmart has them got to get the correct ones for wire size then get shrink wrap to finish the job

At your nearest big city or metro area there is probably at least one electrical wire/cable company that has automotive style wirings and connectors. Local auto parts stores can pretty much any popular connector too, all of them are not going to be on the shelf, and you might have to ask to see their hardshell connector catalog. There are places all over the internet too that sell various electrical supplies, . Keep in mind, there are specialty crimping tools for most of the pins/connectors.

Here are some brands that are popular in the automotive world, search these names and look at some images, add "automotive connectors" to the search for more specific apps.

Sherco-Auto has a good assortment of auto electrical supplies. Add the .com to the name and it should come up.

Oh no. Please tell me more about needing the specialty tools to crimp.

Most connector manufacturers have production grade crimping tools and repair or technician grade tools. Production tools can get crazy expensive. The repair/technician tools are simpler and sorta reasonably priced.

But to install ends/terminals for the plastic connectors you are sure I'll need specific tools?? I can't just use regular wire crimpers?

Depends on the connector and what you have for "regular wire crimpers". Since the terminals are bare, they need a crimper form that is usually smaller than the form you have on a generic crimper like you use with insulated crimp connectors. Most of the bare terminals crimp the conductor and insulation. The proper tool for those terminals have features in the die shape to do that in one step. As an example, here is a link to the crimper that is designed for the connectors I linked in an earlier post....
