Hey SV--Is this legal?-Saw this can't tell.............

I guess it's all legal until you get caught.Would you really want to mess with the boys that picked it up and put it in there?

They should have just let the scrap guy come and get it for free- the ticket they get will be more than they'll get from the scrap yard.

Anybody else would have done that or left the tailgate down. I wonder if he bought a replacement tailgate for when he sells the truck. Hard to tell with the low resolution picture, the cut looks like it was professionally done. I bet that cost quite a bit to have done.

I rarely get in on this foolishness but there used to be an exstention that stuck out for hauling ladders or lumber that would probably take care of it!!!

Assuming he's seen by a cop, and is doing something that the cop can legally pull him over for. The cop has to decide if it's better to just let the guy get to his destination, or pull him over, disrupt traffic, wait for a wrecker, disrupt traffic even more while the wrecker unloads the junk car from the truck, then write a ticket that probably won't get paid because the guy's broke.

Highway patrol, even if they saw this, would likely turn a blind eye as long as the guy wasn't driving like a maniac and/or leaving parts all over the road as they drove.

This guy probably made it to the scrapyard without issue.

You managed to hit one of my pet peeves.

What do blinking lights do? Answer: Attract attention. To you. While you are doing something that may be borderline or just plain illegal.
What kind of attention would blinking lights attract? Law enforcement maybe?

Common sense says to be discreet and quietly carry out your task - WITHOUT calling attention to yourself.

If I were a cop, I can assure you that the one with the blinkers would be attracting my attention, and would be the one on the side of the road while I wrote out the tickets.

Barnyard, what cop has ever thought about disrupting traffic? The way cops think: I don't care where anyone else needs to go. I'll shut this road down and nobody's going anywhere, I don't care if the road is blocked all day and night.

Stan, anybody that would ruin a tailgate like that isn't smart enough to think of loading it diagonally, even when they are sober!

Highway patrol here would be to busy looking for seatbelt.probably wouldn't notice the car in the back.

Pet peeve of mine also everyone rubber necks to see if I am hauling a wreck so I never run the lights on my tow truck...

While on the subject of cops turning a eye... When I ran my wife to the hospital with our first born I passed a cop running 65 in a 35MPH zone I blew his doors off he turned onto the next side street :)

jimg.allentown. No one can accuse you of being afraid to be out there in a tiny minority, LOL.

Well, I've been a cop for over 20 years and yeah, we do try to think about disrupting and blocking traffic. We also try to pull people over where it's less likely we'll get hit and killed as several of my co-workers had happen. But just because we turn the lights on in a safer, more common sense area doesn't mean the idiot with the car in the back of his half ton truck will pull over there. You do the best you can.

As far as the truck with the car in it, no, you pull him ASAP. You don't let him try to make it to the junk yard and risk him killing Mom and the kids when his brakes fail at a stop sign or plowing through grandmas living room wall when he can't make a corner.

And for the record, any moron that would let that pass and go get a seat belt needs his cranial/rectal inversion fixed!
