Interesting Farmall C

I saw this interesting Farmall C today at Woodstock fair in CT today. There is a saw mill behind the Farmall C on its left

I've seen those type rollers on a few tractors but wouldn't think the "C" would be heavy enough to roll much. They do a good job if the ground is a little soft like in a meadow.

It will flatten out a lot of cow pies. Judging by the thickness those rollers are fairly heavy without added ballast. My guess is it could be used to roll grass runways. If the grass surface is already flat this tractor roller could be used to keep it flat.

It never ceases to amaze me all the specialized applications people can come up with.
My earliest recollection of carnivals and amusement parks was the IH power supply units that ran all of the rides. Looked just like a Farmall A front half without wheels. Hood grill and all.
Great memories.

Around here, the carnies all used Allis Chalmer B/C engines. That was decades ago.

guy near us still uses that setup on a Farmall M, to push stones back down in meadows after they heave during the winter thaw. saves a lot of grief
on the haybine.

About 40+ years ago just about every farm in Cayuga County, NY had a Farmall M with those rollers on it. I do remember seeing one Massey Harris and one F series Farmall too.

(quoted from post at 09:36:20 09/01/19) I've seen those roller wheels on mostly Ford tractors on sod farms around here...

I spent a lot of time on a M.F. 135 with wheels like that seeding fields with a Brillion seeder on a sod farm 30 years ago.

A neighbors brother had Farmall F12 fixed up with rollers but not that wide and rolled lawns in the spring.

The metal the rollers is made of is about 1/4" thick and the tires are inflated to hold the rollers on. I am friends with the owner of the shingle mill under the roof in
the background. It is a Chase, about 100 years old now with patent dates of 1888. I was there Friday helping him run it and will be there Monday probably.

(quoted from post at 05:58:32 09/01/19) After i got on my computer i see it is.smartelic phone shows otherwise
