Is this big $$$$?

I recently bought a very-little-rust 94 Chev1500 V6 automatic with suposedly 96K miles. I had my favorite mechanics go through it, to make it reliable. I plan to use it as a seldom driven, 2nd (emergency?)vehicle. Seems to drive OK, except the AC is on the fritz.

It leaks!!! About a cup a month...from the end of the transmission where the drive shaft emerges. Geeez

I've got enough money into this project!! I will have to take it to the mechanics and get the news...it is no good as a backup vehicle if I cannot depend on it.

What do you think it will take to stop that leak?

A new seal should fix it assuming there isn't too much end play in the shaft, even then it may stop or reduce the leak. Seals are cheap and shouldn't be too hard to replace.

Crud..the miles are low enough. As the others have said you might as well fix
it. Get it fixed and then drive it for a month or two. Then get back to us and
let us know if it was worth the money. You should be OK. Does it have the radio
with a CD player? It should look something like this. They work pretty darn
good.

I have had a leaking transmission seal for about 8 years and 200k miles. A cup a month = about 1$ per
month. What is the problem?

Your first mistake was to buy a shoveitorleaveitlay. But now that you've done that, don't compound your error by pouring money
into it. Live with it or sell it.

Well that is my experience with every GM product I ever owned. I finally said I'd never own another GM again. They should of left them go bankrupt instead of bailing them out.
