Oliver 550 diesel

Just removed the boot on the gear shift of my Oliver 550 and found the gear shift all rusted and pitted. This may be part of the problem why it shifts so hard. Is there a product out there that can be applied and sanded down to get rid of the pits and still be usable?

If the shifter rails look the same, that's where your problem is.....and harder to repair.

About all I can see doing would be weld it up and start working it down with a 4 inch grinder and a flap disc.

It will be a slow process, many small corrections and sandings to get it right.

If was going to repair that, I would braze it then file and sand.
