Finding it hard to find anything on 701, row crop. Rewiring and wondering if originally there was a resister block. Staying with the 6 volt system for now.

Don't worry about it. The wiring is the same as any other XX1 except for the diesels and the X71 with SOS transmission. That tractor is one that is very desirable because there were not a lot made. They will bring more than pretty much any other four cylinder Ford.

You are right. Impossible to find info
on. Better just sell it to me and let me
worry about it! Ha ha. Actually should
be the same as any other ford. Great
tractor you got!

I rewired a 961 a few months ago. The wireing harness was shot,a can of worms. the generator had been so hot it was black. Soooo I cut and yanked everything. Repaced the gen with a one wire Delco.Rewired and made a neat clean 'sanitary' harness. The thing works as it should. In my opinion, that's the only way to 'repair'/reuild an aged dilapidated worn electrical system.I now have 6 tractors wired as such.I've even done a few tractors as such for neighbors. I currently have a 4020 waiting for te same treatment. No regrets.

Only one I can think of that had a ballast resister and a 6 volt coil is the N series For with the front mount distributor and it was a theromistrister
