I've got a 1 1/2-2 1/2 and a 3-5 horsepower. Neither one still has the cover for the water hopper.

Does it run?

I believe that engine is a McCormack Deering, probably a 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hp. Nice old engine. To change the horse power you just sped up the RPM'S. The way that was done is by changing a lever from one speed to the other. There is no throttle to change the speed.

But it?s still ihc. Yes it?s the LA or LB model hard to tell. LB had
the tray and felt to oil the valves. Looks like the 1 1/2 -2 1/2
model. That governor lever by the flywheel you adjust the
rpm?s. Either slow or fast or in between. Has notches to place
it where you want. We used one for years on the well pump.
One time when I was about 14 I had it apart and did not have
the flywheel bolts tight. The thing slide off when running and
went rolling right across the yard.

That's why it's in South Carolina now. I don't have anyone to leave my my old stuff too but you do. May have to make a trip up your way with a trailer full in the near future. Your sons will make sure it's around for a long time.

I got one from a friend in montana 10 years ago, its 100% complete, was used for years on a cement mixer, still starts and runs great.

We had one on the ear corn elevator. Every year we had to take the gas line out of the tank and free up the check valve. And that was before ethanol gas.

I bought one like it not long ago. The guy said he has the tank cover somewhere. I need to remind him to look although I have found others on ebay. It's also missing the valve cover and gas tank is full of holes. One of these day I may have to play with it. That one looks nice Larry.

We found an old hand dug wood framed well out back (about 15 foot deep) that still had the flat belt driven water pump in it.

Was probably powered by an engine just like the one you have.
