Lift Arm Adjustable Links

Many places sell weldable, replacement lift arm balls but I want to get a Cat 2 set of adjustable ones for an '88 Ford 3910. Have searched the www relentlessly to no avail. Anybody know who makes/sells such? For a guy working alone, they really help to get implements connected.....while you are still sane!!! I have the Pat's on another tractor but don't trust them on heavy implements....not the units, the bolts and all that mount them to the ball lift arm. Have thought about replacing the hardware with Grade 8 bolts. May move them over if I can't find what I want.
Thanks,
Mark

You will need to cut out the old ball and weld in the new ball.Use your old link, just weld in the new ball/socket.

If you need the complete arm,a trip to a salvage yard may be in order.Or you can make your own telescopic arm. a length of 2" sq(1/4" wall,1 1/2 ID) and a similar length of 1 1/2" solid sq. bar.Weld a ball on one end of each piece, weld an ear to attatch the lift link to.Driil hole for a pin to secure the halves to tether. Look at a 3020 JD tractor. your finished product will resemble that.I made a similar setup for my MFarmall years ago. Really simplifies hooking up to 3 ppoint implements.

Huh! Didn't think about them....Winnsboro as I recall. 30 years ago I went over there for some 2000 and 4000 parts including a head that they remanufactured. Had a super assortment of Ford parts and a complete machine shop for all the work required to reman. a Ford tractor. Will do, thanks.

That's what I figured and the weld joint would be V shaped and several passes of weld to build up the joint......since the Pats is cast iron, recomment a good rod for me please.

Thanks,
Mark

Thanks for the tip. May just do that. No doubt movable link tips makes the day on one person 3 pt hookups.

I'm assuming your 3910 does not have them currently? I agree, these and the adjustable telescopic stay bars on my 4630 are both a nice design. You can get the internal parts for the flex links if that is what they call these. I rebuilt one that the previous owner cobbed up. Nice thing is you can switch the ball(s) from Cat I to Cat II, not cutting/welding required Each size is available at TSC. The retainer spring does have to be in good order or might be best to stow them in the tool box when no implement is hooked up. This 3 pt set up is a very nice design in my opinion.

For all the fooling around . How come nobody doesn't just use a quick hitch? Just release the jaws back up and pick up the latch the jaws done.
