How do I identify this seal??

My Massey Ferguson TO30 needs a new rear wheel seal. I have ordered and gotten the wrong one in three attempts. Each time I thought I had it lined out and would get the correct seal.

It is the seal at the top that is visible.

Does this seal have a part number and what is its correct name?

It does look like a "Sure Seal"as used on TO20. I don't know if it is possible to use Sure Seal on TO30 because TO30 from the factory has and Inner and outer seal.

I have read some archive posts and have been told my rear seal was more than likely leaking because it was too full. So I plan to replace only this seal on one side and hope it is ready to go.

My son kept telling me the rear seal was leaking and he was continually adding fluid. I was using a box blade and the bearing started talking after about three days of steady work. I am suspecting the fluid leaking through the bearing washed out the bearing grease.

I pulled the axle before I figured it out. I will remove the seal and repack the bearings and hopefully solve the problem.

I plan to go back with 15W40 oil. Hopefully the other wheel is still greased. It for some reason has not leaked.

What the hell! You are right. I looked up the seals for sale by YT for a TO20 and they are sure seals! My tractor is 30 miles away but maybe it is a to20 instead of a 30. I am almost certain the model number on the tractor says T030.

Anyway I am going to order the sure seals in the morning and get this buggy going. Thanks!!

Once you pop that cone shaped seal out you will see a steel ring,or retainer. That holds the bearings in place, and you have to cut it off so you can get to the outside seal.I'm
not sure about now,but it used to come in a box with two seals and the retainer ring.

Now I am wondering if I can pop out that sure seal and maybe the seal they sent me might possibly be the correct seal, or at least maybe it would work.

is your outer seal leaking ? that bearing is packed with grease then the sure seal installed , they can be a bear to get started straight you will need to build a driver , some people use a long piece of pvc pipe 3 in I believe I used a safety cap off an oxygen cylinder and cut the dome end off , slide it over the axle shaft it was the perfect size for the seal

I got back out to the tractor yesterday. It has Model 30 on the side of the hood. I have ordered parts for it before and everything fit perfectly. But I am suspecting this might be a TO20. I ordered sure seals yesterday for a T020 and am suspecting they are going to be the correct seal.

I also removed the lower bolt off the side plate and about 2.5 gallons of tranny fluid drained out! There is a dip stick to check fluid level right beside the plate. The fluid was kind of milky looking but pretty clean.

No wonder fluid was leaking out the wheel seals. I am blaming it on the third party (my son) who kept adding fluid and telling me we had to replace the seals that the fluid was getting expensive! I kept shaking my head needing to use the poor tractor and drove it untiil the wheel beariing grease all washed out and the wheel bearing started to squawk!

These little tractors are beasts and this is living proof they are tough as nails.

Thanks for the help. Novice tractor guys like me need YT forum to keep us straight.
