Continental engine? Don't find it listed on tractordata. I remember seeing one at a tractor show. Now that I have a VAC, I can see differences that I didn't know about before.

Yes.....it was a Continental engine.....first tractor my dad bought on our little acreage back in late 1940's

If memory serves me correctly, which gets less likely each year, it was a continental engine and Clark tranny. Only parts common to the vac was rear wheels. Don?t know how it worked out but the vac engine was a new engine but continental built it for them in their plant until 45 or so when they got set up to build all on their own in Rock Island. Engine bearings were interchangeable with a continental engine. One of the frustrating things on the vc was the cheap mag that made it hard starter. I think they were a reliable tractor other than that.
