Sign of early spring?

Was out discing today and saw two Killdeer nests that eggs in them already. Never seen them lay eggs this early in southwest WI. Usually find several setting on eggs in the middle of May when planting soybeans. If possible I try to plant around them as I do enjoy watching them. Today they both tried the broken wing act to lead me away. Tom

I like watching the killdeer as well last June plowing they were everywhere and the babies were big enough to run but not quite fly yet I had to wait for them to move a few times

While mowing I see them doing the same thing. I try to stay clear of the nest when I see it also. Stan

Found a dozen yesterday.
