Bad Start to Hay Season

We've finally got 6 days of good weather to put up some hay, Friday and Saturday we cut 65 acres, Monday we started rolling hay, had 5 acres done when one of the new rear tires we put on in March blew the sidewall out, robbed a tire and wheel from my 6600 to get back to baling, it isn't pretty but it holds air.
Yesterday the AC quit on my 6610 I bale with, it was toasty in the cab but still got all but 5 acres done.
Today we'll finish mine and roll up 10 acres for a neighbor, support to start raining tonight or in the morning so we'll find where we lost power to the AC controls and fix the broken fuel return line on the 5600 I mow with

They usually don't break when they are sitting in the shed. Always when you get them out and want to play. Oh well that the nature
of this old and even not so old iron. Glad you got your hay up without rain. gobble
 
Maybe just the fuse for the ac. I had a Massey combine that would blow the fuse about every 4 days. I never did track down why. Just buy a couple packs of fuses every year.
 
A bit of "patina" on the fuse holder prongs will slowly heat a fuse to melting. Other than short circuits, it is (opinion) the most common failure mode. Jim
 

Fuses are good, it has lost power to all controls in the top of the cab that have power when the key is on, AC, wipers, radio.
Could be the key switch, not sure if there's a relay that supplies power to those controls.
All of the lights work, gauges in the dash work, just no switched power to the top of the cab.
 
That tire sure looks good except for the one spot. Yikes.

Any adjustment from the manufacturer on that deal?

We were supposed to get rain, storms, yesterday afternoon. They did 30 miles south of me, but we hardly got the sidewalk wet.

Trying to adjust to this being another nice day, had kinda pushed the past 2 days, and was expecting this to be a slow catch up day. Now they say rain tomorrow
evening. I’m getting old to adjust like this! Ha.

That is one of the nice things about the modern rims, although Ford had them first I think. Just take the wheel off another tractor and go to work. If it was an old JD or International you would have been forced to change the tire.
 
Not sure what you mean, but Dad poked a broken off steel post into a nearly new 13.6x38 Firestone All Traction Field & Road tire opening up a corn field with the 2M-E picker on the M. He was down a little over an hour. He DID change the tire & tube on the rim. He also had a Super M-TA that he could have swapped the rim and tire off onto the M's cast rear wheel, only six bolts. Or he could have swapped the cast wheel, rim, AND tire from the SM-TA onto the M.
And depending on the wheel and tire equipment on a John Deere, the rim & tire from an A or G might have fit the M. But whatever was on those Fords would NOT fit on an M.

This may sound "out there", but could a fellow stitch the blown rip with stainless wire, boot it on the inside, and use a tube?

I have done it myself, but not on a tractor with that much torque at the tires. Mostly offroad truck tires. We had one that way for years. We do carry a spare, as a JIC (just in case).

Perhaps it's next failure prevents this experiment.

Post back about how they stand behind that tire!! If they don't treat you right the YT army can boycott them and put a big hurt on them.
 
I know this is apples and oranges, have my uncles
90’s vintage 396 had the A/C clutch bearing go out
short out the magnetic coil. This knocked out power to
the clutch. The blower still worked, controls in cab
roof and a set of fuses can’t remember where, but
they were all good. Turns out it had a second fuse
block down under the steering column which is where
the fuse had blown. I figured it out but probably would
have went quicker if I would have ask him for the
operators manual.
 

They said they would work with me but trying to get ahead of the game i had purchased the tires back in January and installed them in Feb, other than moving a couple dozen bales the tractor has set waiting for hay season to begin but in their eyes I've had the tires for 6 months so their not going to give me a full replacement warranty but will sell me another one at a much reduced price. Guess that's better than nothing!

As for the AC I checked my service manual and found there's a fuse for the rely that controls switched power to the AC and wiper controls, that fuse was also good.
Finished baling what i had down and their calling for more rain so I'll get time to check the relay itself and then open the roof the check the roof harness connector to see where it's lost power.

They are the experts. They should be able to look at the tire and see that it has not been used.
