What i mean is,it will get to 213, Degrees and then the warning buzzer comes on,, just let it sit and run it comes down to 180, so the thermostat must be open, then you can make another round !

Time to wash the radiator and all the coolers on the front of the engine then blow them dry or start and let idle then sit overnight

Radiator can get so plugged the viscous fan drive cant work Because no air flow can get to the fan clutch to make it engage

Usually it will leak if the water pump is bad. Those pumps are simple and easy to change but unless its leaking i would look elsewhere. Like others said probably fan clutch. ( I worked on the ISC (505 8.3L) development project into the mid 90s)

A failing thermostat can cause that.

Many times a thermostat will only partially open, so it will get by with a light load, but then overheat when there's a heavier load on the engine.

But, so will other factors, like a clogged radiator (inside or out), fan clutch, loose or burned belt, or low coolant.

I was waiting for a teltale sign that it was leaking or wet, but dry yet, but the fan is running all the time! Well thanks guys, it's a neighbor tractor, i just run it part time !I blew the radiator out out, just a little dust came out!

ike mentioned above wash it out with water. A volume of water will force out trash that compressed air will go around. If you ever suspect a week water pump or failure touch the lower hose when the engine is running hot. Compare that with the top hose. You'll know if the pump is not circulating.

I agree a clogged radiator. Will also do it. Very common on standby generators. The fins will be clean where the fan blows. But the outside sections will cover over.

I always hold a rag in front of the radiator with the engine running at medium, or higher, rpm. The fan should pull the rag up to the grill. If not, you have an air flow problem. Then I move on to suspecting the thermostat. With the engine cold, a good thermostat usually (and a good gauge!) will show to warm up quickly and then drop off a little bit on the gauge reading. The water pump would be way down the list; if I pull the thermostat, I probably would flush the radiator at the same time, and if it's dirty, I'd flush the block. Mark.

Ok, that i haven't done Mark, but i refuse to think it's the thermostat, if you just let it sit 60-90 seconds it cools down, that's quick in my book. The tractor had 3,400 hours on it,i am sure the Anti-Freeze has never been changed, but looks very good yet,but the mechanic is coming out Monday or Tues when he gets time, i am a firm believer in changing the anti - freeze so we will do that. But the fan runs all the time,if the clutch is froze how does that effect the air flow in a negative way??
