My highest regards for Corpsmen, both Navy and Army. They're in the middle of it with everyone else and can't even be armed to defend themselves.

Today is Remembrance Day up here. Best wishes to those who served and are still serving on both sides of the border, and around the world as well. I made it to sea cadets in junior high school which was as military as I ever got, my dad was in the Royal Canadian Navy from '41 to '45 ..... top center on top of the gun on the HMCS Hepatica, a Canadian Corvette. "Splicing the Mainbrace" (an extra tot of rum).... September 1943 on the day of Italy's surrender.

I was in VS-27 which was stationed at NAS Norfolk--Our air group went aboard the Yorktown when we went to sea. We all got transferred to Quonset Point RI. in 1970? and the Yorktown was decommissioned and then we got the Intrepid. CVS-10 and CVS-11--the oldest carriers in the USN...signs you seen at Norfolk "Sailors and dogs--keep of the grass"--ANCHORS AWAY Old---Tee

Yep the sign almost had the Navy pulling out of the Norfolk VA. area but when the Navy started talking about doing so the signs disappeared. Seem while they did not like the sailors being there thy did like the $$ the sailors had

I went aboard USS Saratoga CVA60. 12/1968 Philly ship yards. I thought that thing can't float. Biggest thing I had ever seen. One year 4MMR the rest in A5 division. Number 1 emergency diesel and EN3 on captains gig. Left ship in Vietnam in Nov 1972.

No carrier duty. I started out when out squadron had 12 sea planes(P5M's) Very large water landing only. Then before I got out we had P3 Orion Lockheed Electra's. It was all fun. Stan

My uncle my mom older brother flew off carriers in WW2 and was one of the first to be stationed in Japan after they gave up.

I have a nephew who is so much of a nerd that after his A and B school became an instructor and is currently stationed at Goose Creek S.C.

MY older brother was also in the Navy and was murdered back around 15 years ago. My brother and I where both on the SSBN 633

I think I've mentioned before, I was on the Sara in the fall of '56 for carrier quals when the ship herself was brand new and still in shakedown.

I may have been one of the first patients in the ship's hospital ward. We were in the middle of flight ops one day. I had the flu and was running a temp. I went to sick bay intending to get doped up so I could go back to work, and the doctor put me in the hospital ward for several days.

Also, if I recall right, out in the Atlantic one of the screw shafts twisted off from some defect and we finished what we were doing on three screws. Guess that's why there's a shakedown period.
