Oliver 1550 gas with a high speed transmission. It starts and runs good, just needs some lovin’. It has a new radiator, alternator, wiring harness, new tach and cable and a bunch of new parts, 2 starter and 1 stack weights. It’s cold out but I just had to try it out, this thing hauls!!!!!! It will be great for tractor rides!! Probably won’t do much to it until it warms up quite a bit but for $2600, I’m happy!!!!!

You only spent part of your Mecum money. There is still some left for the Christmas present for the better half.

Ya, I need to get her something nice, she told me to buy it when I was dragging my feet about it.

Super99.......you did well with that purchase. Won't take much to get that Oliver the way you want it. Good looking as she sets on the trailer. Wingnut

The 550 is a nice little tractor, emphasize little. Too small for me to be comfortable on, hard to get on and off of. This fits me a lot better!!

That is one sweet ride!! Lot better than the Ford that followed me home a couple days ago. My 1600 U is pretty fast on the road. Could it have a high speed setup? Are they marked some way?

Look at your serial number, the last 3 digits are the transmission code. Yes, utilities can have a fast transmission.

Ya, that seat has to go!!! It's comfortable but it sets too high , no arm rests and too hard to look behind you.

One of my classmates had an Oliver with the high speed transmission. He got ticketed by the Minnesota highway patrol once for going too fast with an SMV sign on the trailer.
If I recall correctly, he was in a bit of trouble. At thirteen he could drive tractors on the road, but since that Oliver was faster, it had to be someone with a driver's license operating it.
That was 45 years ago. Today we see kids driving four wheelers that can do fifty and not much is said.

I always wondered why a farmer puts a $ 2,000 camper inside the barn and leaves a tractor outside. I see it all the time. A nice diesel farm tractor out in the weather while a 1975 Serro-Scotty with flat tires is taking up space in the barn.. Even my Simpleshitty tractor is inside in the winter.

Reminds me of the 1600 gas that my brother-in-law had. It was had a cracked manifold that he had repaired - twice. Suggested to him when he got it (cheap) with the bad manifold, he should just get a different one. He figured it was less expensive to get it welded up. After the second time welding didn't work, he finally got discussed & found a good used one. Turned out, it was less expensive than either then the weld jobs. It was a good tractor, but those horses the 1600 had under the hood were thirsty. If I remember correctly, it had a high-low-direct hy-dra-drive in it.

I was actually looking for a gas 3020 or 4020 when I bought my last one but I ended up with a diesel which for what I want I think worked out better . Still wouldn’t mind a gas 3010 3020 or 4020 . I’d say that’s a pretty nice tractor for that price

Thats a better seat than most of those tractors ever came with or you could get on them. They do make a low back model that would be easier to see over/around.
