Im needing some help getting a different Tach/ hour meter arraignment on my Massy Ferguson 20C with Perkins 3 cylinder Diesel engine. The right angle adapter part # 535397M91 no longer works. These things are unobtainable. Im looking into going with an alternative method of having a functioning tachometer. Tiny Tach offers one that clamps onto the injector line. Other companies have ones that tap into the alternator R tap. Im not sure what a R tap is, my alternator has a 12v pole and a two wire plug. So Im looking for input on which method is better.
Thanks for your input

I find lots of them just by googling "speedometer cable right angle"

I had some Tiny Tachs for my little antique gas tractors. They worked by induction from wrapping a lead around a coil or plug wire. They were fine while they worked, but had internal, non replaceable batteries. I wouldn't buy another unless they had greatly improved, and/or made them serviceable.

I wired a small hour meter in series with the ignition switch on my tractor,it basically records run time when the switch is on. it has worked fine for about 10 years.I just googled hour meter and picked out
one that I thought would work.I can't help you on the diesel tach.

'm pretty sure that his Perkins DIESEL has no plug wire to wrap around. :)

LOL!

I believe there are some tachs out there that have a sensor that attaches to an injection line and detects the "pressure pulse" at injection to operate them.

Thanks everyone. I had seen the various right adapters before however with so many different ratios and the different rotation directions. I had about given up hope on finding a correct part. I think Monday Ill call Texas Industrial Electric and see if they can cross reference the part. If necessary Ill dig into the tractor and pull out the part and send it to them. The biggest issue is Its a major undertaking to get that part out of that tractor.
Again thank you.

I got one on cub cadet. Yes removable batteries.
Yes, wraps around plug wire.

An alternator pulsed tachometer would have to be calibrated
to pully ratios, belt slip, etc to read crank RPM
while one pulsed by an injector line would only have to be x2.
I did have some experience with adjusting cable driven speedo's to
various rear ratio/tire sizes with a kit made by Stewart Warner.
Basically a little gearbox(could be right angle) that fits inline with the cable.
Trooper's cars useta have to be calibrated before elec. speedos & radar.
Motorola had a tach. that wired into a Leece Neville alternator on one of the AC lugs.
