Put the exhaust valves back in and checked them. 3 are .016. One is .025. Was worse. Used some wet-dry sand paper and gave it heck. Maybe could do more but I doubt it. On one the retainer on top is loose, weak spring? Just learning as we go.

In 1979 I purchased an retired man's tools. Valve grinder, a tool to grind valve seats. Many valve spring compressors for flathead. One day after rarely using them. I sold everything for flatheads.

Kevin, I have the tools to adjust the valves if you have the kind that takes them. I will start my stay at UAB on the 15th and could bring them over......but you may already be through with it and have it painted pink and purple by then.

Shocking to think about.....we will leave this one correct color! Will let you know about the tools. Got a few parts coming. If intakes are as close as exhaust we will leave it alone.

The process for stretching the valve is to lightly peen the stems. (In the area outside the guide.)
0.016 doesn't seem so bad.
