I saw some loose tarps and broken straps after the wind storm. I was out of new bungees so I drilled some air hose and put in the hooks. Worked well. Cheap

Every time I use a bungee cord, I think of my oldest brother.
He was a PHD at LSU and was tying his canoe on top of his car.
Was pulling the cord down to the trailer hitch and it slipped out of his hand.
Jerked his glasses off and went beside his eyeball and ripped a long cut on his temple.
Found his glasses 100 feet away and he could not see out of his eye for 2 weeks.

JMOR, is a non OEM bungee more dangerous at the end of useful life than one of a "make do" type?

ou will have to do the testing for that....not me. :)

I have a scar on an upper lip from one of those things. It felt like someone slugged me. I was lucky it was the back side of the hook. It if would have been the other away around it would have ripped my lip off. I still use them but I make sure I am out of the way if it lets go.

Well that makes a lot more sense now than it did when I looked at half awake this morning.

I now see the red thing is the end of a tarp, when I first looked at it I thought it was tin of some sort and the hose was expected to stretch enough to allow the loader to tilt.

Thanks I am all better now.

47 5 W, be sure you keep that tarp really tight. I found out the hard way that a tarp that is not tight is worse than no tarp. Actually when you factor in condensation there is probably no tarp that is better than no tarp when it come to protecting machinery. A friend had a lot of rust damage done to an MF a few years ago by a tarp on it in the summer holding condensation in.
