That cartoon is funny but in real life it's not so funny. We had the plumber come to clear a plugged sewer line one time. He used one of those water jet blasters. When he opened the valve, it blew sewage back through every drain in the house. One of those days you'd rather forget.

Ahh we have one of our hospital buildings with back to back sinks that will do that all too easily.

Back in my 20somethings, was at a friends house, he was having plumbing problems.
Somewhere he acquires one of those expandable plug things that goes on the end of the hose.
Hook this up, stick it in the cleanout, problem solved!
Well it has to have worked the water is going somewhere...
A few minutes later his wife comes screaming out of the house, water coming up behind the washing machine!!!
So turn it off, mop it up... All fixed, man that was a good idea!
A few minutes later, a trip to the bathroom...
There was the contents of the toilet that hadn't flushed in a week, covering the floor, making it's way under the wall to the bedroom carpet, black water from the shower stall joining with the toilet water to make it's way down the hallway.
Yep! That fixed it!
