Still hoping to ID my Massey....

Hi everybody I am not sure if I have upset anybody by bulk posting my 15 messages to enable me to upload some photos, as there appears to be a total silence now. Anyways if there is anybody out there who can still give me a clue to as to what the model number my MF backhoe might be then I would be thrilled to bits as I hit a dead end in my enquiries. My best guess is a MF50 or 40 (industrial machine)... however the rear axle looks more like an agricultural MF165. We are taking the axles of in the morning to replace the inner works of the brakes...

Here the photos again

Most likely the reason people have stopped
responding is that your message got pushed
back a few pages on classic so people
stopped checking it.

No worries!... let's see if I get some answers to this mystery.
Cheers David

I t looks very much like a work bull 202 that I used many years ago
working with Bell Canada. That one was based on a Massey-Ferguson 35
with a Davis backhoe and loader. yours is probably newer. serial no should tell you
the tractor. I believe you still have Davis backhoe and loader

Hopefully Carlmac 369 will be by to look at what you have. Did you try to post pictures after you had five posts?
I think the 15 post requirement for photo posting is incorrect. Looks like you have a dandy weld repair on that
axle housing.

Yes I did try after 5 posts... but it still did not work before the full 15 messages....

Yes the axle looks like it gave birth by cesarean section. I hope that is not a worry?!? I am not sure why that was done... but at least it looks like the weld had stood the time.

Hi Kris and Grabatire

I compared pictures of those models with what I have in the yard. I reckon it is a different model judging by the loader arms. The work bull series had these rounded arms with a type of indent line along the frame edge... see pictures for comparison

Looks like it might be a 3165 with a MF 250II loader.

You might try posting this on the Massey Harris & Massey Ferguson Forum down below. There may be some folks, on that forum, familiar with this that don't visit up here often.

Yeah, that's a lot different than my old girl. Quite a bit newer.

As Jim.ME posted, looks like a MF 3165 to me. I don't recall that style loader on any MFs of that vintage but then again, I haven't seen everything.

As TractorTucker said, I expect your original thread has sunk into the classic mudhole.

Thanks Carlmac 369, Tractor tucker and everybody else having an educated guess. I looked at the proposed IDs and I am getting increasingly sure that the US built models have been different and that this model is likely to have come from the UK, (in the 60s and 70s the crown still send a lot more stuff down to the old convict colony down under). the American pictures all seem to show the same rounded front loader arms with the embossed edge and the European ones are all just flat and box square. I shall try my luck on the European forums... thanks again everybody
