Is on my 1950 farmall. Second pic is on a lawnmower. I also put a solenoid on Jubilee. Cheaper than funding a tank full of gas on floor. I got these

Solenoids from Ebay years ago. If you ask for a solenoid at auto parts store they think you need a solenoid for a starter

Good morning folks: I don't know if either of my tractors' carbs will leak all over the floor, because I remember to close the shutoff on the bottom of the tank.

Good afternoon
You can't remember if your carbs leak.
I can't remember to turn fuel off.
Guess we both can't remember.
LOL.

Bingo.

I always turn off the gas valve and run the engine until all of the fuel in the carburetor is gone, pulling the choke know upon stall.

Never any problems.

Dennis, this seems to conflict with your reply to Jons funny
yesterday. We will just hope you remember to put your
pants on before you leave the house. Just poking ; > )

I have five tractors I can trust. The rest get the fuel turned off every time they are shut down. An electric shutoff would be a good addition though. Do they make 6v shutoffs?

Those electric solenoid valves typically use "rubber" on either the needle or the seat deep down inside.

GOOD "rubber", hopefully.

But in the end installing a valve like that only kicks the can down the street a ways.

Eventually (quicker with "bad gas"), the "rubber" parts in them "rot"l and they either stick closed or open.

I have had one of those on my Oliver 880 for over 20 years. Bought it at a forklift dealer. It will work with 6 or 12 volt.

So that has to be a normally closed valve.
Powered whenever the key is in the run position.
So when it burns out and no longer opens, is the next "fix" to install another solenoid to bypas the dead solenoid??
