Put in an order for some baby chicks with Murray McMurray my hatchery of choice for probably 50 years.Going to get them the week of Sept 20th,they were already sold out of most breeds until early Sept., apparently a big run on chickens this year.

Yes sir. With everything going on in this world, more people are getting and raising chickens. I have about 40 barnyard mix chicks in the brooder now. I got them from different places. I have about 30 hens in big run laying now. I have had chickens most of my life. I have to have my fresh eggs!

Seems to be a backlog/shortage on everything this year. Most likely because of the nnalert scamdemic. Looks like even the chickens got it.

My wife picked up a dozen Barred Rock's from McMurray just last week. Our first experiment with chickens, maybe we are part of the problem...

I didn't notice any sort of shortage when I was looking. Everything I was looking at had availability starting in May, maybe one was June. Certainly no shortage at the local farm stores either.

We have 45 laying hens and have our eating chickens already. Should have them in the freezer and/or canned by June 1. Shortages or not we will survive. Not to mentioned a huge garden. We will enjoy spinach later this week from the garden/greenhouse

Yup, eggs were a little bit scarce for a few days last year so everyone with a backyard is putting in a coop and keeping a few chickens. The constant cluck-cluck-clucking all day, the loose chickens running around my yard, the random rotten eggs they leave as presents, the smell of chicken manure, and the RATS are just LOVELY.

Our coop feed store has been having difficulty filling orders this year. Last year was crazy too. Hobby folks have jumped on backyard chicken flocks since the plague started. I washed enough eggs and plucked enough chickens as a kid, I will let someone else do it.

Our county 4H purchases the chickens for all of the clubs in the county. They had trouble getting chicks this year but they said it had to do with the US postal service changing their delivery practices for chickens and that is what is causing some of the problems.

Our local tractor supply has had a pretty good supply for the most part. I got my Cornish rocks from them around end of March. I have turkeys coming from Cackle Hatchery in about a week as they are willing to ship as few as 6 for an extra fee. I get them about as late as they will ship turkeys as I am getting Bourbon Red turkeys. I bought some from them last year. I haven't seen or heard of any problems with the post office delivering them. I call them when I know the delivery date and give them my phone number. Never had a problem.

The local Orscheln's farm and home get them in every Thursday. Sometimes they are gone in a day or to then the next time they still have some when new one come in. I had a hen hatch 5 out for me plus I got 7 barred rocks from Orscheln's a couple weeks ago

I just hatched out a couple dozen from my hens. Of you want to drive over here you can have them as well as 3 ducks I hatched. Got 2 incubators with duck, turkey and peafowl eggs. There is a local animal swap that I normally sell at but missed this month planting.

I got my yearly supply the end of Feb' right after the cold snap that hit the country. A buck a piece for 20 3 week old Isa Browns and 15 Leghorn Pullets at RK farm store. Nobody wanted them because of the cold weather.

I had trouble a year ago getting 50 Bared Rocks as everyone decided to go into the chicken business when things started going down hill.
