Some may recall the funny ckink-clank when we rolled the motor over by hand. Found the issue. Governor was shot. And the gear that runs it was loose.

The big gear is the cam gear its an original fiber gear YES they are known to separate from the hub : ( the replacement is aluminum : ). If it had shucked the fiber teeth as most do the oil pan would have needed to come off.

Check that the timing marks are located at the same place as the original. The bolts on the cam are set so the cam gear will only fit in one place so you can not bolt it up to the cam wrong.

If the pan gasket is not torn clean up with brake clean and apply good RTV. If the gasket is torn you will need a to cut up a new oil pan gasket set for replacement. The gasket does overlap the crank rope seal as it does on the rear seal.

Side note. It makes it hard to follow post with a new post update in modern view your old post would have went to the top of the page no new post needed : )

Hobo.... I guess we got lucky. The teeth
on the fiber gear look good. Just the
center was loose. Found a governor to go
on. When we took old one out it fell
apart. Supposed to be a couple set
screws holding it together?? But balls
looked perfectly round and bearings
looked new. Some one was in there
recently.

You already have two heavy weights with reply's. They know it well... Keep the EI unless you feel the need to mess with junk ignition parts...
