Hello, I have found a JD high crop 7400 somewhat reasonably priced. I was wondering what all would it would take to convert to a standard tractor. One place I called had axle housing and rims and they said 8-10,000 to convert it. Does that sound about right.

my first impression is don't do that. The high crop versions of many tractors and brands of tractors are often worth as much a 100% more than a conventional tractor. If you buy it, clean it up and make it nice and original. Don't paint it. Put an advertisement for its sale here on YT, or other places. You might find a standard height tractor of higher value to you with no work or money. A JD with credentials of being a High Crop is for sure more valuable than a chopped down version with mismatched components. Jim

Ch8128....... Sir. I watch the Mecum tractor auction every Saturday like clockwork. JD high crop tractors rather original or refurbished nearly always pull in more money than its equal in non high crop. Something to consider. Wingnut
