Update on IDA

Ida now has the potential to build winds of up to 120 mph at landfall. Category 3 hurricane winds are
considered devastating, according to the Saffir Simpson Wind Scale. Category 3 winds range from 111-
129 mph.Gulf meteorologist Rocco Cilaci said the latest update is bringing the hurricane slightly
eastward, bringing the Mississippi coastline more into play. The latest update also increases the
strength of Ida from a low Category 3 to a strong Category 3 at landfall.

Landfall is expected in Louisiana, but storm-force winds will extend as far as 80 miles from the center
and will directly impact the Mississippi Coast.

Ida is expected to be a dangerous major hurricane when it reaches the northern Gulf Coast on Sunday,
and the risk of hurricane-force winds continues to increase, the NHC said.

The 4 pm forecast has it at a cat 4 now.

I seen that on WLOX just now up graded to a 4 I am having mixed emotions what to do. did not get any water during Katrina, like i said I am only one mile from the beach , do you think it will be another Katrina ? what is scary its the same date 16 years later Aug. 29

Katrina went to the east of us so north wind.
That pushes the water from the lake toward New Orleans.
Had a few downed trees and no power for weeks.

This storm is going west of us so all the lake water will be pushed toward us.
I am south of I 12 so not far from the lake on no levee on this side of the lake.

Yes, stay safe and do whatever it takes to do that.Don't be a hillbilly redneck, on the news, sitting on your roof as the house floats down the street from the high water. Our local forecast said at 6:00 pm said cat 4. It ll never bother us except maybe same rain.(North East Missouri)

Thats scary being in harms way. Thankfully Henri didnt do as much damage as it could have up here in NE CT. Power was out for 25 hours in our neighborhood.

Stay safe

Vito

Im in the same area as 504, depending on the storm track its pretty amazing how much rain we can see up here from one of these storms. I know you guys on the gulf know what to do when these storms move in, but as others have said play it safe and please take care.

How far away do you go? I was at fort Morgan during a tropical storm, I would hate to see a cat 4 hurricane.

I will tell you one thing WE WERE NOT hillbilly rednecks, 20 folks lost their life as a wall of water 12 ft high came thru town. YTes houses floated 270 in fact and another 482 damaged to the point they are not livable. All this happened to a town or county that has never seen flooding. They are calling the 17 inches or rain a century experience. I talked to one off you hillbilly red necks today 87 year old lady said she had never seen the creek as they call it where one could not cross it in her life time. I have been down there 5 days 15 hrs a day and yes I do take offense to your remark. Little thing to you b ut 20 folks dead and many out of homes. I spent the day helping a 66 year old farmer who lost over 130 head of cattle dig out his equipment that had up to 6 feet of gravel over it. Have a good day and if you choose to come to TENNESSE I will introduce you to some of your HILLBILLY RED NECKS

What you are doing is what my daddy would call one country boy helping a neighbor in need.
Good for you being a helping neighbor.

I'm NE of Dallas and about 30 miles as the crow flies to the Okie border. The wind blew out of the East all day and it was hurricane winds because, unlike regular gusty winds they would blow hard (enough) and then just stop dead....then do it again...gotta be the bands of Ida. I am a Longggggg way fron NOLA. Good Luck John.

WLOX is Biloxi isn't it. Was stationed down there a couple of times in the '60s, once when a mild hurricane hit....was funny as the wind was blowing pretty hard from the East and all of sudden it just stopped. Maybe 30 minutes passed and all of a sudden it was blowing the same speed from the West...eye passed right over us. I think Katrina wiped out the East end of that base which was mostly officer duplex billets.

Not going to be pretty......for anybody.
I hope you in harms way are being smart and already on the road away from the coast.
Take two lane roads out of there as the reports are that I-10 east and west is clogged. And I-49, I-55, I-59 and I-65 all northbound are also clogged.
