One of M&W's design . back when the M was the big horse everybody wanted more power and so the after market came into play , there was a raft of ways to build more power and ya did not mind carrying gas to feed them as they sure could eat . Now If you are looking into making more pony power and IF you can find them today you want the I H pistons for above 5000 ft high alt. pistons and even better are the 8500 ft. pistons and a STOCK 450 gas head intake and exhaust along with a STOCK 450 CARB. AND A COUPLE more tidbits.

Dry sleeves still in the block ? It is standard policy to pull the sleeves and run over size high compression pistons directly in the block.

Pulling the sleeves is an option for the owner . Who knows , he may relish having some extra snort in reserve to surprise the unsuspecting .

You can tell what it had originally fron factory by the letters included on the serial number plate. Like, as in gas, kerosene, distillate. If its been overhauled before, it may very well have thinner sleeves, larger diameter pistons in it. I would not advise running oversized pistons in a sleeveless block as mentioned down below. You could damage/ruin the block instead of a replaceable sleeve if you do that.
