How long can a bird live without water?
I have a bird in pole barn that doesn't want to leave. Been inside for 3 weeks.
I think it's a wren. Can't get bird to stay in one place long enough to get a pic.

I turned the seats over on tractors and mowers.

Has gone to far pooping on my car.
Don't mind it pooping on tractors. Car has crossed the line.

I hear the bird getting in the vented aluminum eves. Sounds like it might be dinning on stink bugs that is wintering over.

Can a bird live on stink bugs and no water?

We leave the over head door open, bird doesn't want to leave. It happy to winter in the pole barn. Sometimes it singing or laughing at me. First time a bird has stayed in pole barn, especially over the winter.

It can eat all the stink bugs it wants, just don't poop on my car. GRRRRR

.22 cal birdshot. I didnt say that did I? Just a little condensation somewhere in the building will be enough water for a small bird.

More than likely, there is a small opening somewhere that allows it to get in and out.

FWIW, I have a Crossman pump pellet gun with a scope that I use to remove birds from my barns if I cannot coax them out otherwise. A pump or two is enough to get a bird at close range without hurting barn structure if I miss.

Most birds can be coaxed out with a bit of effort but some cannot. Turtle doves appear to be too stupid to fly out of open garage doors on both ends. I once had a wood pecker in one of my barns that did not want to leave. It took some time but I was eventually able to coax it out without resorting to the Crossman. No, I did not say that I have shot turtle doves.

I'm thinking your right. I hate stink
bugs more than the bird. Live with corn and bean fields across from the street is a big stinky problem. I'll request santa bring car wash gift certificates.

The bird is testing my patients knocking things off the shelves.

Why did you settle in the burbs if you think corn and soybeans. I guess CAFOs and Hog confinement barns would cause you major discomfort.
Here's the tough question. Do you want Geo or soybean field for neighbor? LOL

GordoSD,
My momma said you can take the boy off the farm, you can't take the farm out of the boy. I grew up on a dairy farm. I'm not a farmer, but I will only live in the country.
Living 3 semesters in a dorm while in college was enough city life for me.
My momma was right. I still have the farm DNA in my body.

Is it roosting on something above the car?

Any way to put up a couple sheets of drywall over the car so it has no place to perch?

Well, If its a Wren, I hope it cannot survice, at least in my barn. Wrens are serial killers around the yard. Destroying others eggs and babies, filling bird boxes full of sticks to stop others. And so
noisey !!!!

Pole barn is 30x40 x10 ft. Trusses on 2 ft for bird to purch. Easier to run car through car wash.

Nail a blue tarp a bite bigger than the car to the underside of rafters above car.

Cheap and easy

Mine thrive on spiders. They look everywhere. I saw one go under the air shroud on a lawn tractor once...thank goodness for it the engine was cold. Watching them in the shop is a treat. They walk down the horizontal boards to which the vertical tin paneling is attached...R panel I think it is, and walk down the beam to one of the reinforcement humps in the tin. They stop, and in turning their head, peer down the back side of the board looking for them.

I had one that made a nest in the drawer of an old tool box. For 3 years that bird came back and dropped 2 eggs and raised her family. Fun watching them grow up and learning how to fly.

They have a beautiful voice.

A rotating amber beacon is said to work on barn birds.
