Ooh ya chop down all the trees that are removing the carbon from earth. Makes as much sense as using electricity. Should be starting with the planes , trains and ships. The big polluters.

There is now the ability for a satellite to pick up Methane.
I'm betting the biggest contributor to methane is MOTHER nature.
Methane is worse than all the CO2.
Also landfills. They capped our landfill and for the past 20 years the methane form the landfill has powered a brick factor.
I see mother nature blowing bubbles(farting) in my lake all the time.
2 miles south are 12 oil wells.
On the news a farmer had methane coming out of the ground so bad, it killed his corps around the small area.
There is a mega dairy and mega pig farm in NW Indiana.
It's not the cow farts, it's the cow poo that creates tons of methane.
The farm uses the methane and the community around it.
Methane is called natural gas for a good reason. Mother nature makes methane naturally because of the composting of organic materials.

Centash , that post on here regularly , has a gasification tractor. His dad put it together. Apparently during WW2 in Holland , many tractors, trucks and buses were powered with gasification.

Well, the one my dad built would run on dry cow poop....I never tried it, but in energy desperate Europe during the war, they tried everything.....heck, my grandpa would substitute chicory for tobacco when he couldn't get any......that may explain a few things, come to think of it....

There were tens of thousands in use across Europe in the war years. Truck and bus units used coal, but the principle was the same. If you have access to cheap waste wood, they are a useful unit.

Id like to build one someday. Be fun and plenty of scrap wood around . Wonder if it takes a certain type of wood or could you burn old pallets ?

Death can occur within 15 minutes after development of bloat. In some cases, sudden death may be the first sign seen by stockmen, although in such cases it is likely that there will be other cattle with bloat that are still alive.

The one we have will burn any dry wood, but a soft wood like cedar burns better and leaves just ash in the clean out. Any wood producing creosote as a result of a low temp. in the fire zone either needs a better filtration system or an operator with lots of patience to clean the creosote deposits off of the valve stems.... Old pallet wood should work OK but needs to be cut up in pieces an inch or 2 in size...as does any wood used.

They do both, but belch more than fart....and Geo is right...bloat can kill in minutes, even if the cow can belch. You need to epistulate one to save a badly bloated cow...that is, cut an opening in her side.
