On the pan seats that tractors initially use, you can keep them. I like something more modern with a backrest.

On the seat and the backrest thing, I was restoring a '39 Ford Coupe with the flat head V8 and had to move it with the seat out.
Well having a clutch and 3 on the tree, sitting on the floor pan trying to drive the thing makes you appreciate a good seat with a
back to push against when shifting and steering....never knew how much I used the seat back till I did this.

On my tractors, every time I use them I marvel at how the backrest makes driving for long periods more appealing.

Good morning, Texasmark: Sort of making me think! I have a 9N Ford, original type pan seat. I do not have problems using clutch and brake, but on that tractor the pedals are more straight down for me, so I don't push myself off the back of the pan. On my lawn tractor, the pedals are more out in front of me, the backrest keeps me from sliding off the back. Never thought much about this stuff!!

We used to remove air ride seats from semi's, and set on a 5 gal bucket and back it out of the shop and park
in the back lot. You're right-having a seat back is important. Mark.
