planters for model a

Hey there this is my first time posting here and I was wondering what planter would be good for a 1949 john deere model A. As well as a good brand of power steering pump to add to it. If you could help that'd be great!

Standard low-cost replacement power steering pump would come from a GM 3/4 ton pickup.

The high-concept option (extra points for style) would be to use the combination
generator - power steering pump from a 1950-1960's Cadillac.

I agree, planters from 1941 of models JD 290 and JD 490 planters.. Row spacing of 36 or 38 inch.. Options of fertilizer- and -on row herbicide.. Later came the JD494 in 1957 and JD494A in 1963..

To take on a parade, or to plant with? It wouldn't match era-wise, but if you are going to plant with it, a Deere 7000 4 row would work. Or 7200 if it is finger pickup. Uncle pulled one with a MM U for many
years.

The big question is what are you wanting to do with the planter. Use? Then how much acreage and how you want to harvest it? Or just as a colector Item? or as said take to a Parade? Parade only a 290 as it would only be the only model narrow enough to go thru a parade route. Then if you were wanting to use it how many acrage you want to plant. Then how do you plan to harvest it, by hand single row picker, combine shell, if so then with what size head in how many rows and row width. For use it would handle up to an 894 planter because of power but with full fertilizer boxws might not have enough hydrolicks to lift it. Same with any 7000 series might not have enough lift as those are a heavier planter than that lift was designed for. Need information to help.

This is what I use.
